A&L Feed and Garden Supply has been in business for more than thirty years and strives to meet the needs of the community by providing excellent customer service and a balanced range of products.
Our staff members have areas of interest and knowledge in specific inventories to help you with selecting products to meet your needs.
Tom- Tom has been with A&L since June 2005. During this time he has focused his interest on poultry, rabbits and beekeeping. He manages a back-yard flock, a small rabbitry and a couple of hives. Tom is responsible for maintaining the poultry department, keeping the rabbit supplies in stock and this year developing the beekeeping inventory. Last year Tom succeeded in doubling the sales of poultry and poultry supplies. This year he is on the way to doing as well with the beekeeping inventory. An ideal day for Tom is when he can supply the main ingredients for his family's meals from his backyard.
Kathleen- We first met Kathleen when she was the demo representative for Nutro Pet Foods. She regularly was at A&L handing out samples of pet food, treats and answering questions about dog and cat food. We were pleased when she accepted our job offer in May 2009. Not only is Kathleen knowledgeable about pet food, she has a great interest in backyard vegetable gardening and birding. Need help identifying those birds at the feeder, ask Kathleen. Kathleen is usually at the front counter where she is assists customers. She is the one who keeps the sales area organized, answers your questions and knows where everything is located. She takes much pleasure in photographing nature. See the screen saver on the store computer. Kathleen has four cats, a mouse and some fish. Someday she would like to own a graphics business.
Adam- Adam Joined A & L in March of 2010. Adam has taken up beekeeping and has taken the beekeeping class at HSU. He also enjoys keeping poultry. Adam has been an amazing addition to the A & L Family.
Chris- Chris joined A & L at the end of August 2010. He took over as Barn Manager in September. Chris has the poultry bug. He currently has about 200 chickens and ducks. Chris knows quite a bit about feeds and hay and can help you out if you have any questions about what to feed your livestock. Chris has been a great addition to the A & L Family.
Justin-Justin joined us in 2008 and worked here in the barn until early 2010 when he left to pursue another vocation. In late December 2010 he returned to us as the Garden Manager. Justin has a lot of knowledge when it comes to planting fruits and vegetables and the types of soils to use. He has expanded our garden department from just eatables to flowering plants as well. He also has extensive knowledge of poultry and horses as well as most other livestock and family pets. Justin is a great edition to the A & L Family.
Alice-
Alice has been part of A&L since early spring 2008. She came to us after a several week visit at the Humboldt County Animal Shelter. We don’t know much about her, other than she is very good at what she does- namely keeping the English Sparrows from pecking holes in the feed sacks and nesting in the rafters of the feed barn. She is also very interested in raising the stress level of any mouse who ventures into her territory. Alice unlike the other staff members is not friendly with customers. She will occasionally allow someone to pet her, but we don’t encourage that because she is easily annoyed. Please ignore Alice, she won’t care, she already knows she is the "A&L Princess."
